Fat Man & Little Boy bracket

Currently in metal prototype, compact bracket designed to use stock speedo, stock indicator lamps and 48mm mini tach.
Another version using a 2.39" mini tach is in the works, along with a
somewhat different 3-indicator-lamp version. Can also configure to use stock tach
and mini-speedo, will require switching to electronic speedo due to lack of manual cable clearance.

Bracket will be available with or without swiss cheese. :D

The reason an electronic speedo is needed if using the stock triumph tach is the manual (cable) mini speedos all have a center cable connection, not a bottom connection like the stock Triumph speedo, and with that center connection there isn't clearance room for the standard 12mm cable to the back of the headlamp. Trailtech make some different speed sensors, I've
been looking at adapting this one for the SV650 - there's others out there ...

Not anticipating great interest in using a 1.9" electronic speedo - but
if an owner was interested, it's doable.

Using a stock triumph speedo one would use any 1.9" - 48mm electronic tachometer.

Steve - thanks!...mounted up a proto tonight, took some pics... as ever, once seeing it on the bike, all kinds of things to tweak... sound familiar? LOL

Overall, I'm pleased... FM&LB is meant to be an in-your-face design, pretty much the evil opposite of a flat bracket... now to tweak the outside contours, dial back the angle from current 26 degrees to about 22 or so...finish the indicator housing & backer, finish the custom can for the lil' tacho, and also do a non-perforated version... just to see. :D

Last time I looked Solidworks was about $4k... plus an annual maintenance, I think around $1K.
Just can't afford it yet... someday maybe, gotta sell a whole lotta brackets first, LOL.

The rendering is done in Adoble Illustrator, carefully retouched in Photoshop... the hardware is a seriously ancient Mac.

I do parts/machines for the medical device industry for a living and know good design practice and quality craftsmanship when I see it, and you've got it in spades my friend. Great effort on your part. I could easily see you offering more than instrument brackets.

FWIW, if a guy were looking to pickup earlier software pre-2007 SW can be installed without pinging the mother ship. You'd need a PC system to drive it but there's enough used stuff on Craigslist to do that for short money now a days.

If you don't mind me asking, are writing your own G code too?

Pepper - cool - would enjoy seeing some pieces... in my day job we do some parts for a local medical device mfgr... saw their shop setup one time... they have
about a dozen 4 & 5-axis Haas workstations, making gorgeous titanium parts...
had a little envy goin' on for sure, as we do mostly flat parts - lasers, routers, and waterjets are great for that though.

Damn good thought on the earlier SW software... need to look into that.

As far as G-code, no... squeaky clean vector files go from Illustrator into Autocad, checked over again for point distribution and polyline smoothness, then to the waterjet's state-of-the-art cutting program where entry paths, material, cutting speeds, etc are programmed & parts are nested for whatever the sheet stock size is... it generates it's own G-code... but the fine tuning takes place before that. On the laser some slight G-code tuning sometimes has to happen, but it's completely different - and really old - software.

Once parts come off the waterjet... it's a lot of handling and handwork. Filing, grinding, chamfering, sanding, surfacing, counterboring, polishing, anodizing, powdercoating, etc... whatever it takes until it looks good and feels good when you run your fingers over it. :D

I think this would look great tucked in side a screen.
Will this bracket and gauge set fit under a bonie fly screen ?
If so could you post some pics so I could get an idea what it would look like.Also do ever sell your mistakes ? I'm not picky really plus :shrug:times are tuff.

Selling the mistakes... LOL. The bracket bone-pile is gettin' bigger all the time. I hear you, times are tough. These days it's not even worth taking the pile to the metal recycler!

Ya know... somehow it's just against my MO to sell
the mistakes. They're outcasts for a good reason or
several... :eek:
