I own a 2008 Bonneville Black that came with a mechanical speedometer, and then I added a matching electronic tachometer. Ater some years of riding, many miles, and a couple of speedometer failures, I decided to research alternatives.
I found out about a company called Speedhut (https://www.speedhut.com/) from my buddy Seth at Bonneville Brackets. They have some sweet products, plus you can design your own faceplates or choose from a list of their own design options. I decided to go with a dual 3.5" set of speedo/tach and then have Seth design a new lay-flat bracket for them. The speedometer is 100% GPS. There is no electronic or mechanical connection to the bike.
They have been working great and are much more accurate than the mechanical speedo.
