Clicked insert image in a test post. copied the url into the box provided. submitted post and all that was visable was a small white box with a red X in it. Please help?
Hedge, don't try and be a smart ass and instruct me to format my "C" drive again. I know better than to do that and if you think I don't, you are dumber than me:rolleyes:
I really would like some usable help, not a bunch of snide remarks. I know I don't know much about computers but I'm seeking real help in this. Many of you keep asking "post some pics". Well, I would like to post pics of rides I've been and bikes I've owned/still own sooooooo, if you want pics, help a poor non-geek computer user fulfill your requests.
Thanks

the 'url' you pasted in is
http://bikepics-1336216-full.jpg/
that's not a REAL url... it has to be a URL that anyone on the internet can get to.
If the pic is on your PC, then you need to just upload it to the site (using the manage attachments button)
An example of a real URL would be http://www.newbonnevilleriders.com/images/Scott_Bonneville1.jpg

Copied that right off the internet picture where it is listed as the "jpg" for the picture I wanted to attach to a post after I got it to work. Anybody can go there and look at the picture if they like. If that isn't a "url, what is????????? Please explain how to get a "url" from a picture found on the net to insert image ON THIS STUPID PROGRAM WRITTEN FOR COMPUTER PHDs, NOT COMPUTER KINDERGARTEN GRADS LIKE ME. I use Internet Explorer and am confused. HELP PLEASE

Bill,
I find the easiest way is to upload them as an attachment. They end up as a thumbnail in the post which you can click on to enlarge.
To do this go to additional options bit underneath the submit reply button there is a manage attachments button press this. Then use the browse button to find the Photo to upload you can then use the next browse down to add another etc. When finnished press upload. If the upload fails it is because the photos are too large. I shrink them down using paint.
Hope this helps, If you want to use this method and have any probs feel free to PM me

a url is something you can type in the address line of internet explorer.
generally, it is going to start with www.somethinghere.com (http://www.somethinghere.com/) then there will be a /location/filename.jpg which tells internet explorer where to find the file you are looking for.
As David pointed out, if the pic is on your PC (and from the name you posted before, it is) go down to the manage atachments button, click manage attachments, click the browse button, and find your image on your pc, then clck attach.
I have a FAQ written up that I've posted on another forum, I'll post it here as well, and see if that helps.
