8-Ball Choke Pull for Triumph Bonneville 2001-2008
This is a real resin made miniature 8-ball threaded choke pull for all Triumph Bonneville motorcycles. It will probably work on many other Triumph and non Triumph motorcycles as a choke pull also but I custom made these for the 2001-2008 carb model Bonneville’s because it looks so Friggen cool! You can see the actual size of it because I took a picture of it side by side with the stock choke pull off my 2007 Black Bonnie. If you own a Bonnie you are my kind of biker and I want you to buy one of these - so I will take care of the S&H for free in the United States! This should take you all of 5 min to switch out. I will provide everything you need for the swap and a simple set of directions. I’m telling you – this is an awesome touch!
Note - all profits will go to Hookers, Strippers and Gambling!

I dunno, was it meant in a derogatory way against said hooker's race or were you identifying a specific type of hooker?

Hi, my name is Bret and I'm dumber than a caveman.

"Hi Bret... "

Well after getting the little nut on the back (only dropped it six times thanks to my girly fingers) I managed to strip the ball with a flick of the wrist. I don't know what part of "be careful not to strip the ball" I didn't understand. Maybe it was the "be careful not to strip the ball" part. Anyway there I was with ball in hand and hating myself as so often the case. My situation was remedied with a dab of 5-minute epoxy and I'm proud to say it looks awesome. Thanks Hedge!

That was a handsome piece of thinking. I would have suggested RTV RED or Gorilla Glue. Anyway, if push came to shove and you were standing there with your balls in your hand I would have sent you another because you are a Bonneville Brother! :-) Glad it all worked out.

I made my contribution to Hedge's habbits, and I'm glad I did! I had a little problem getting the bolt through the hole, but after dropping it a couple times onto a hot engine, I decided that I'm not that dumb and clumsy, and it went right on after that! Looks great, and feels good too.

Hedge
09-12-2008, 08:17 AM
Quite a while ago someone said they used a magnet to pull it through the hole and it was almost instant. I liked that idea!

I'm up to my ears in work starting last night migrating Windows Server 2003 Virtual Guests into Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x64 edition Host and then I have to setup 2 DPM 2007 x64 backup servers. That should take me through Sunday night. Once this is done and proven I might be able to go back to normal 8-10 hour days. Don't worry, we will ride and when we meet I'll comp you! :)

Glad that you speak Canadian aswell Hedge. Tramped through the snow to the mailbox and there it was, the 8 ball choke knob. Heavy sucker, built with care in the USA and one good thing to come from NAFTA. I don't think that the EFI "choke" is a choke in the old sense of the word though. It is simply a two step idle rev increaser. Same effect but different process no?

I know, I know, believe me if I could I would. They didn't build garages onto Victorian terraces in central London and as I ride the bike everyday (except snow days) I have to leave it outside. I do normally put a cover on but completely forgot the night the snow came in.

Bike started on the button when I had dug it out a few days later :)

If it is a carb model then the answer is definitely Yes. If it is a EFI I would also have to say yes since many of the guys who have the 2008 EFI's had no issues. Re-read the posts and contact those guys to double check. Ah hell - its just a $15 crap shoot, if it doesn't work just give it to one of your carb riding buddys!

Stand up my friend . . . we are all brothers here united by our common interest in Triumphs! For those of you living in the Northern parts of the USA you must be as excited as me that Spring is here and we will all be riding again instead of talking about it! I'm waiting for the street-cleaners to sweep the streets clean of all the sand. We already had enough rain to wash away all the winter salt. I'm beginning to get psyched about the upcoming 2nd Bennington Triumph Bash in Bennington VT at on the last weekend in May. We had a good turn out last year even though the weather wasn't so great. If you can make it please don't hesitate . . . a great friendly time is had by all of us! No worries about guns, fights, arguments - just great Triumph companionship, fully mapped out rides everyday, and fantastic fellowship at night time! For more details just go to the dedicated link to this once a year event and you can get all the information you need to join us! It is open to all of you so please join us! Those living far away . . . don't let it stop you! We had people coming across country to attend! Hell you can trailer your bike up there and launch from Bennington or launch from various starting point throughout New England; one being the beginning of RT 7 in Norwalk CT where UncleCharlie and myself launch with a hand full of riders. Hope to meet more new faces this year!

Willy - the choke pull came with the bolt pre threaded. You had to actually unscrew the bolt from the threads to get the bolt out. So I'm thinking the problem is an alignment problem. I, and others had much success with using a strong telescopic Sears magnet to hold the bolt in place, Then start the choke pull onto the thread with a little dab of RTV blue or red. The only issues I can think of is that you have already cross-threaded it, You put to much RTV on the bolt, or you just need to keep trying. If you fucked it up let me know and I;ll send you a free one. If you fuck up the free one then it ain't meant to be! :d

My 8-ball choke knob threads sheared off from repeated use of choke pulling (my bike is a commuter) and now the small bolt to hold it doesnt work. Is there any way to fix this or do I just need to order a new one?

Did you apply a little RTV Red on the bolt before threading it? This will lock it down real good. You only need to snug the choke pull tight - the RTV RED will do the rest. Over tightening it will always strip it!

Just send me your address and I'll send you out another one but be careful with this one because the threading is just cut into the resin so it can strip easy.

Thx - John aka Hedge

OK, so this is funny. After hearing how some resourceful chaps have used the buttons they got with their HMT orders as choke pulls I figured I'd give it a shot. After all I'm all for shameless self-promotion. I picked one out, went in the garage and pull the pin off. I then squatted in front of the bike when I realized "Oh yeah. I have a "World Famous 8-Ball." You win, John.

Seriously at what point does the state step in to save me from myself?

I hired a mexican who works 18 hours a day for me! He is a great worker and I pay him $1.50 an hour plus a granola bar for breakfast and Cheesburger for dinner. I let him outside for a few hours every other Sunday! Unfortunately he only knows the number Ocho!
Can your Mexican make a choke knob outta one of these, por favor?

PS: We like bean tacos for breakfast... cheese enchiladas for dinner. :D
